Chauve qui peut!

The classic cry during a French shipwreck "Sauve qui peut!" basically means "Save himself who can!".

My niece was wondering why I was creased up with laughter while looking at a bookstand in the café at Col de Couraduque in the Hautes Pyrénées;  the reason was a book about a cartoon bat entitled "Chauve qui peut!".

Anyone who:
  1. speaks French; and,
  2. has a bad sense of humour; and,
  3. (most importantly) is bald
(I therefore qualify x 3) has every reason to crease up at the title.

For those who are still in the dark, the French for 'bat' (of the mammalian-insect-eating variety) is a 'chauve souiris' (literally a 'bald mouse').

P.S. I am fascinated - why is this the most-viewed page in my blog?
