Donjon des Aigles

Paid a return trip to the Donjon des Aigles at Beaucens yesterday in the company of my nephew, Ben, to watch the display of free-flying birds of prey;  absolutely fantastic.  

The setting is a ruined castle, built around the year 1000, and home to the Viscounts of Lavedan.  Seriously fire-damaged in 1792 and further damaged by an earth tremor in 1854, the site is perfect in its new rôle as home to a wonderful daily display of raptors and definitely worth a visit (adults €10, children €6).

Although I took a lot of photos, just a few are worth keeping, but it's shots like this one that remind me why I stick to Canon L series lenses:



All the shots in this series were taken with a Canon L 70-200, handheld on a Canon 20D body.
