Lac de Gaube really is chocolate box beautiful, in a perfect mountain setting.  The lake is a wonderful blue and the snow on the mountains is a classic touch.

I walked up here on snowshoes in January a couple of years back, and it was just as beautiful, just different.   The restaurant wasn't open but our guide fished in her rucksack and brought out a huge flask of tea and a gateau basque. Now that's what I call service!
